Wasps

At times you feel that it is worth the risk doing something in order to attain something else that you want. You either get burnt by the fire or you pass through the fire unscathed and having caught the fire as your prize.

Interesting because how many times do we do things that we know are probably going to get us into deep deep trouble and we still do it coz we know the rewards are going to be heavenly.

Like the time, my mum says don't climb that tree. Of course i refuse to listen because it is a guava tree and i love guavas. So up,up the tree i go with the sole mission of getting my guavas. I get the guavas,hold them in one hand as i navigate my way down the tree and next thing you know am attacked by these big angry wasps,stinging me in the face,legs and arms, these things are everywhere. I let go of my branch as i try to shoo them away....by now you have already guessed it,i fell down the tree,hard,my guavas scattering in different directions.

My little bum is hurting like no ones business and am in so much pain,i would like to sit there and nurse my injuries but then the wasps are in my face descending down the tree as if i stole something from them.  I get up so fast and run directly into the house,with the wasps directly on my ass chasing me away from their territory. Lucky for me,once am in the house they give up the chase.

I get my swollen face treated by my mum. I think she decides that this time i don't need a beating since the wasps have done the job for her coz i don't get one that day. Bit you can be sure i got another one on another day.

After everything has cooled off, i cautiously take my swollen,hurting self  back to the tree and pick up my guavas.

So at the end of the day(practically,its about an hour later) even if am hurting, i am devouring my guavas as i finish with the most scrumptious of them.

I learnt that i should in future use a long stick instead of climbing up the tree to get my guavas. I could not endure getting stung everyday.

Lesson to be learned, open your eyes to the possibilities of achieving something great but only if you put in some effort to it and learn from your mistakes and don't repeat them.

Au Naturel

In the endeavor to give the best your mumchkin, you can go to all lengths under the sun. Read all organic blogs in keeping away chemicals from your loved one.  So I started reading about detergents to use on clothes and turns out you should only rinse your baby clothes in the purest water from the streams up in Mt. Kenya. All detergents contain irritants and should not touch the skin of your baby. Then i read about baby oil and soap. All soap isn't good soap, good organic soap is without sulphates and should only cost you an arm and a leg. Oils contain unnatural fragrances and additives and are really not oil but a derivative of crude oil. Now do you want fossils on your baby? An extinct dinosaur on my brand new baby. No no. So we discussed this difficult as a family and brainstormed for days and finally decided we shall have coconut oil. A family meeting to discuss baby oil!! The great big hike

Anyone who knows me will tell you I avoid any form of exercise like the plague. I am not athletic and I acknowledge I am very unfit.  I woke up on the morning of the hike that had been planned for the past month, which I had paid for, I turned in bed made myself more comfortable and had an internal dialogue where the majority decided I am not going up the hill.   Mumchkin's dad asks me "aren't you supposed to be going for the hike to Menengai Crater". I told him categorically, I am not going and that I didn't welcome any follow-up to the conversation.  At around 8 o'clock as am trying to come up with an excuse for the group, when am sure there is no going up a treacherous mountain since we are supposed to take off at 7.30 am and am already late, I log into WhatsApp and I see that the group has not yet left.
